Try These Tips For Neck Pain Relief

Try These Tips For Neck Pain Relief

If you regularly suffer from neck pain, there are many ways to improve your symptoms. We have a series of tips that can assist if you suffer from neck pain regularly. Here are some of the top strategies that we can recommend for neck pain relief.

Stretch Regularly

If you work a computer, consider putting your monitor at an eye level, sit up straight and avoid tilting or twisting your head down to the side when you are at a computer. When you’re driving or looking at a smartphone, make sure that you are taking regular breaks to stretch out your neck if it’s been bent forward for a long period of time. The best stretches that you can do involve rolling your shoulders backwards and down 10 times, squeezing your shoulder blades together 10 times, or bringing your ear to your shoulder 10 times on each side. These can be some excellent stretches that can be used to keep your neck feeling more limber.

Sleep in the Right Position

When you sleep on your stomach, it’s likely that you could twist your head multiple times per night. By changing up your sleeping position, you can work at eliminating some of the neck pain that you regularly experience. Try out a new sleep position where you sleep on your side or your back. Training yourself not to sleep on your stomach can be an excellent way to prevent neck pain.

Pain Relief

Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen and acetaminophen can be helpful in managing neck pain. These are items that can reduce inflammation and help ease any physical discomfort.

Heat or Cool the Area

If you’re having a difficult day with your neck pain, consider applying a hot or cold compress to the area. Using ice for the first 24 to 72 hours will help you reduce the swelling, and then hot compresses or a heating pad will help reduce the remaining pain.

Try a Different Pillow

If you find that sleeping on your side or back is not making a difference with your neck pain, consider switching your pillow or trying a different mattress. This can be an excellent way to relieve some of your discomfort.
